You know what they say ‘Home is where the heart is’, so why not have your wedding day at home. For some of us this is not an option, especially if your like me and you live in the city suburbs in a small unit. Even if you do live in a house with a big back yard it makes life hard when your wife wants to invite everyone she knows. Is your back yard big enough? She might be inviting her school friends, work colleagues and gym buddies. Not to mention your extended family.
If your home is too small and definitely no wedding venue, I’m sorry because you’re about to turn green with envy.
We want to introduce you to Josh and Kristina, a happy couple who got hitched on their parents property. The property is in rural Kurrajong, NSW and surrounded by bush land. On the property is a quaint farm house, a large farm shed, some old rustic fences, a few cows and a large water filled dam.
We blog about kombi weddings, and I am a big fan of everything Volkswagen. So to find out Josh and his father are mad Volkswagen enthusiasts, made this wedding very special. Their yard is full of old beetles, bay window busses, car parts and even a rusted out old splitscreen Kombi. I offered a tour of the property. I was in my element.
Josh and Kristina spent months planning their wedding. Their dream had come alive. The presentation was on point. Their wedding venue looked amazing.
They thought big but also focused their time on the fine details. The outdoor dinner marquee and dance floor was spectacular. The music played by the live band was super cool. But for me it was the the gift table, old family photos, rustic bench seats and their kelpie ‘red dog’ that stole the show.
The wedding ceremony was beautiful and their post ceremony wedding photos were a lot of fun. We utilised Rusty as a prop for the photos. At one stage we had the whole bridal party in the kombi and Josh’s favourite tunes playing. The beer and champagne was flowing. It was time to celebrate.
